Distribution Center Set to Bring Jobs to N Las Vegas

According to a news story last week by KLAS-TV 8, a North Las Vegas distribution center broke ground on a future facility called Northgate Distribution Center. At this time, no known details have been provided about who will be using the center, but the construction for the project will bring almost 400 jobs to North Las Vegas. This also means additional jobs in the future, but currently there are no details about the number of potential permanent jobs the area can expect to see yet.

"This is 10 years in the making and it should of been done to make us more competitive throughout the market," said Kevin Higgins, executive vice president of CBRE, a brokerage firm that represent properties. The Northgate Distribution Center is one of the largest speculative development projects in the history of Nevada. Phase one is expected to be completed in late 2016. Cara Clarke with the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce believes the groundbreaking of the new center also could pave a road to future economic growth. "It is a relative new sector for us in terms of manufacturing and distribution and it is also going to be positioned in an area that is relatively underdeveloped. So, those things together create great possibilities in the future," Clarke said. She believes the new center will allow North Las Vegas to compete with cities like Phoenix and Reno.
